Valley City State College students competed in the North Dakota National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions recently held in Fargo. The auditions are held annually and involve undergraduate and graduate level vocalists from across North Dakota. The auditions involve three rounds of singing with only 30 percent of each level or division proceeding to the next round of performances. Over 110 students performed at the auditions this year.
Three VCSU students advanced to the second round of performances: Kirci Phillips, Thomas Zinke and Faith Heitzmann. Both Phillips and Zinke advanced to the final round of auditions in their respective divisions. Phillips took third place in her division (sophomore women) and Zinke took first place in his (sophomore men).
