Bethany Beiniek, Miss Moorhead 2009, and Paige Meyer, Miss Red River Valley Outstanding Teen 2009
Bethany Beneik, 21, Waite Park, Minn., was crowned Miss Moorhead 2009 Saturday night as part of the Greater Moorhead Days celebration. Beneik is a junior at the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minn. She will compete for the title of Miss MN 2010 next June, which is apart of the Miss America Scholarship Program. Beniek was awarded $750 in educational scholarships. She will spend her reign promoting the community of Moorhead and her platform: Mentoring with the Big Brother’s Big Sister’s of America Organization. The Miss America organization has awarded over 45 million dollars in scholarships to help young women pursue their educational dreams.
Paige Meyer, 16, Perham, Minn., was crowned the 1st Miss Red River Valley Outstanding Teen. The program was held in conjunction with the crowning of Miss Moorhead. Meyer received $700 in educational scholarships. She is currently a junior at Perham High School. Meyer will compete for the title of Miss MN Outstanding Teen 2010 next June, which is apart of the Miss America Outstanding Teen Organization. This is the "little sister" program to Miss America. Meyer will spend her reign promoting the Red River Valley and her platform: "It’s No Joke, Say NO to Smoke" Teen Smoking Prevention.
