Fargo’s Jefferson Area Neighborhood Association recently presented historic preservation and yard and garden awards to area homeowners.

Historic Preservation Awards were given to Helen Bagus, 415 14th St. S.; Cynthia Torges, 1419 5th Ave. S.; and Donald Hodgsen and Laura Hagenbeck, 619 S. University Drive. Consideration was given to appropriate selection of replacement materials and decorating styles pertaining to the look of the property as it would have appeared at the time of construction.

Yard and Garden Awards were presented to Donald and Holly Schoop, 421 14th St. S.; Kimberly and Dustin Laber, 826 20th St. S.; and Diane Silkett, 801 18th St. S. Awards were given to homeowners who displayed obvious consideration in selection of plants, appropriate scale and color, relationship of the plantings to the home, and the care and maintenance of the landscape.

In addition to the awards, winners received gift certificates from Peterson Paint Supply and Scheels Home and Hardware.

The Jefferson Area Neighborhood Association extends from Main Avenue to 13th Avenue South, and University Drive to 25th Street South. The board of directors meets at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Bethany Homes conference room. Those interested are invited to attend.
